“Because everything is part of a system”

When applied to systems, dependability allows various components to perform better.

As a genuine discipline drawing support from rigorous methodology and boasting powerful tools, operating safety acts as a “technology doctor”. We expect the same things from operating safety as we do from a good doctor: support that helps us live better, longer, and healthier—even under unfavorable conditions, and spending the least amount necessary. Operating safety allows for a new project economy that considers project life cycle, optimizes technical choice, and manages defaults through engaging multiple actors.

SECTOR integrates customized tools to ensure safe design and respect for the prescriptive, contractual and regulatory demands of operating safety.

Improvements to Electricity Transmission Network (RTE) control system

Responding to increasingly demanding operational constraints, SECTOR helped RTE develop their dependability approach:

● Integrated an operating safety approach into major projects
● Modelled operating safety of the control network with the aim of identifying projected availability, helped to determine optimized structures, outlined specification of needs to equipment suppliers
● Analyzed projected operating safety of network security devices with the goal of validating or improving certain design choices.

Mechatronic Innovation System

Reliability and Safety analyses in an innovative system:

● Studied defect scenarios for an innovative energy recovery system
● Experimental quantitative and qualitative models of different design solutions
● Comparative experimental study of proposed solutions.

Responding to non-reliability objectives corresponding to safety levels required by Faurecia.

RAMS Studies on Self-Driving Vehicle

Réalisation et animation de l’étude SDF et dossier de sécurité ISO26262 sur un projet de véhicule autonome :

● Safety plan
● Preliminary “high level” study
● Safety recommendations and demands for self-driving vehicle
● Safety report
● Validation and risk management plans

“Pôle Marine” Safety Assessment for Attack Submarine S-80

During the development of the S-80 submarine by Navantia, Air Liquide developed a cryogenic oxygen storage system and an enriched air distribution system for which SECTOR:

● Completed a primary risk analysis of the enriched air distribution system
● Modelled top hazard events in the enriched air distribution system through Fault Tree Analyses
● Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) on filling and emptying the oxygen generation SKID system
